Coolant flush

The odyssey i just bought has no warranty and since ive been tinkering around cars since i was a kid i decided to do some maintenance myself i can do the bacis one so why no diy it. There is something thats been bugging me and its the burping. Ive done a few collant flushes in my life and I never har do burp anything but for the odyssey i read that i need to burp the system with those special funnels. Why is that and how imopratnt is it? I dont have a problem doing it and getting the funnel but im curious

Yeap, coolant flushes are really important. But you need to "burp" because it helps remove the air bubbles inside. If you don't then you will have some risks with overheating because the air bubbles don't let the normal flow of coolant. Adcdtually, the Odyssey's cooling system is kind of weird because air gets trapped really easily, and that's where the special funnel comes in. Sooo, use the funnel. That's very straightforward to do from there. It's difficult to squeeze the radiator hoses that's even more dangerous.

I've actually done a few coolant flushes without ever needing to burp anything. but then the odyssey's cooling system traps air due to its design, so burping is important to prevent overheating. The funnel just makes it easier, but you can do it manually by squeezing hoses and running the heater.

this is why mehcnaincs hate engineers. the car isn't a baby you put on your shoulder to burp, it's a car so this is one of the most idiotic things I've seen in my life. yea I've done it because i had to but i still think it's stupid

The funnel just makes life easier, less mess, keeps the system topped while it burps itself.
