i wonder if the Elite trim is worth the extra $4K-$5K on a 2023-2024 model
our neighbors have decided to get another Odyssey after their 2018 touring had transmission issues,. they found a few dealership that offers a lifetime limited powertrain warranty.
Just wondering if the Elite is worth the upgrade—any thoughts?

@143virus has pretty much hit the nail on the head, but if you're looking for luxury features like a better sound system and heated seats, the elite trim might be worth the extra. But if you're more about reliability, the touring trim seems to offer a lot for less.

First of all, your situation is practically screaming, "lifetime limited powertrain warranty, where have you been all my life?" and I see @143virus ' solid take on financial reality being the ultimate decider here but @jaggedteeth adds some pretty fancy flavor arguing for heated seats and sound systems like the elite trim is the better pick for those feeling bougie. but overall, it's like asking whether premium popcorn is worth it when your regular bucket fills you up just the same, though when it comes to transmission issues on a 2018 touring I'd say maybe aim for reliability over luxury unless comfort is what makes driving feel less like a chore.

If you can live without the rear seat entertainment, ventilated seats, and the extra tech goodies, the Touring usually is okay for value. Elite is nice if you really want the best audio and the little luxury touches, but it doesn't change the core Odyssey experience. If the dealer is throwing in a solid lifetime powertrain warranty, I'd lean Touring unless those extras are must haves for you.
