honda reliability

dont get me wrong, my odyssey has been a beast and apart from regular maintenance I've had no issues but a friend of mine sent me a report for vehicle reliability and honda is much lower than i though it would be. its below bmw and I've owned a bmw and i know perfectly well how reliable those things are. anyone have an idea why is that?

Well dont pay much attention to those 'reports', just enjoy your ride and just make sure to take care of your car. not everyone has the same way of treating their cars. Each brand has its own unique point of strength, most european cars dwell strongly on safety and maybe thats what those people from that 'report' prioritize as to their needs. hence, to each its own.

this is the first time i heard about these reliability reports. didnt know that these exist. but yeah i agree with @wolfgang88 if you're enjoying your car and had no problems with it then i wont bother with these reports

Yeah, I saw that too, and it threw me off. honda's always had a rep for reliability, but I guess recent models have had more issues, maybe all the tech and CVTs, like critics say, who knows? plus, some models are built in different plants now, so quality might not be as tight across the board. Still, putting bmw above honda is wild… feels like they're grading on a curve or something.

Totally get that! Honda has built such a solid reputation for being reliable, so it's really surprising to see those mixed reviews popping up. It could be the tech and those CVTs that are throwing people off, or maybe the new plants are having an impact on quality. And honestly, ranking BMW above Honda just feels a bit off, doesn't it? I mean, Honda has been a staple for so long

I had a friend who treated his Honda Civic like it was a crown jewel, he never missed an oil change, kept it in the garage, and made sure it was always spotless. That car ran smoothly for 18 years without a single problem. On the other hand, his cousin took a Lexus and really put it through the wringer, then complained when it broke down after just 5 years. It really shows that it's all about how you care for it, not just the brand name.

The thing about the newer reports is that they take into consideration things that we didn't have to deal with in the older days and considering how much electronics are in modern cars, they have to take that into consideration as well. Some might say that modern Hondas aren't as reliable as the older ones and I might agree, but they're still very long lasting machines, so you have nothing to worry about as long as you maintain it right.
