Metal clanking sound on cold engine

I have a 2nd hand 2009 cr-v with a little bit over 192k miles on her. recently it developed this really sharp metal clanking sound around the front passenger wheel when the engine is cold. i had its timing chain off just recently for a gasket job about a few hundred miles before and reused the old ones. I already had an idea that its tensioners would eventually be a problem and i honestly dont know why I did not replace them when i had the chance lol.

well it's at 200k so many things can go wrong. the chain could be stretched or a tensioner may be bad. you'll need to get in there and see what's the problem meaning you'll need to crack open the engine. take it to a mechanic, it's not the easiers job in the world for diy

Absolutely! Once you hit 200k, it's pretty much expected for things to wear down like that. Have you decided to take it to a mechanic?

I've been driving my sister's old 2008 CR-V for some time, and just this week I noticed a strange metallic rattle coming from the front when I pull out of the driveway on chilly mornings. I thought maybe it was just a loose heat shield, but everything seemed secure underneath.

I haven't messed with the timing components since I got the car, and now I'm starting to worry if something in there is finally giving out.
